looking for a camera

so, where do I start? I need to invest to a camera that can perform in various light and space such as indoors and outdoors.
I will be taking a trip to the countryside in April but I also need to start documenting my work and my friends.
Any advice?

So finally I am starting my new life...
I have been wanting to own a camera, I shoot many pictures for what I am doing to document. Later on I got addicted. I haven't invested in a camera yet but I am shoping for a new one, so any advice for a beginner?
I will shoot my documentary film maker friend this summer. Till then I would like to improve in photography as well as film making. I prefer photography due to it's convinience but film making also has its advantages. Adresses more senses and it can create more emotions on the viewer.
